GO ~! ! GO ~! ! PELTAC RANGERssss! ! ! \( ^ o ^

It was on 17th December 2010, the date when I had unofficially “retired” as PELTAC camp discipline master (DM), left only some treasurer tasks to be finished up. Few months right after end of camp, another choice in university life to be made- whether to continue journey in PELTAC as supreme council… I chose to “retire”. New PELTAC committee stage belongs to younger generation of organizing committees (OC), hoping that there will be some variation in next PELTAC. That was my choice and I made mine.

Not long after that, new organization chart of PELTAC SC formed. Sze Yong was selected as director, Suet Ching and Kak YI as deputy, Amir and Cheng Xu as secretary, Vivian as treasurer, Praba and Firdaus as HR officer, Kang Min and Say Li as Vice director. At that time, I made another decision, to join as participant. I missed so much the memories in PELTAC and the feeling to work as a team and as family. I took it as another way to support, to observe, and to immerse myself again in PELTAC environment.

As an ex-committee, I knew preparation for the camp was challenging. Started from planning, interview session for new organizing committees, fund raising, promotion of PELTAC, food and insurance surveying, theme song selection, PELTAC image selection, booklet design, opening ceremony planning, committee cheer, OC performance preparation, task scheduling during camp and so on, it took every single commitment from each PELTACers to go through countless obstacles one by one until preparation week, one week right before PELTAC 2012 which was 5th February 2012. At that time, most of the Chinese participants were still celebrating and enjoying Chinese New Year at their home. I realized PELTAC committees had to skip in celebrating Chap Goh Mei this year. (Well, I guessed most of their parents had advised their own child to stay at home and enjoy holidays instead of coming back to UTM). In order to give them some support, few friends and I decided to cook them a dinner, a meal which they could enjoy the feeling as a family. (It’s great that they like the food )

The day had come when I stepped in the camp as participant on 12th February 2012. I was having the feeling like a father paying a visit to children, to know how their achievement. Some of the committees were shocked to see my appearance. It seemed that it generated some pressure to them, they knew that they had to perform well. Wearing the mask as participant, it conflicted with identity as ex-committee. I wished I could chat more with every committees and hoping to give more support (As it wasn’t easy to have PELTAC !!! ). They are my friend and PELTAC family. This year, PELTAC territory expanded to Indonesia, we had friends from ITB and ITS ! So nice to have them to join us to share their culture with us!! 

I respected the varieties of all the members had in forming a team. Being selected as Group 4 leader, found out that it was kind of interesting to have all of members with different strength to support each other. Ru Hui from UPM was quick in generating ideas, Pak Hoe from UKM was good in supporting and generating ideas, Fatin was good in writing draft and done quite well for public speaking, Rikza was creative guy , funny ,can play guitar well , Osamah was good in debating skill, Afiq was potential in public speaking, know to play guitar( likes to hide secrets XD) , Noor was good in Master Mind Game ( he was good in making jokes only after 4th day ,after being influenced, he can be very funny! ). It was the varieties of strength that supporting each other in completing tasks. We did enjoyed and having great fun throughout the camp. Thanks guys and girls, will miss you all  DINO THUNDERsss!!!

Being one of the participants, it had given me chance to focus in learning soft kills through the seminars, workshop and activities that I hardly learnt as committee. I was impressed with the talented participants. There were so many awesome participants I and some of them were excellent in public speaking and debating skill. I felt impressed and good job for everyone for performing well in such a short time. Besides, it was kind of fun to gain new experience in canoeing, archery and helped in equine park.
Some of the hardships encountered by committees were hidden. They had been trying so hard in fund raising and the time when we were enjoying the atmosphere of opening ceremony and the moment we stepped on the floor, we may not know that they had been rushing in preparing it as there was a sudden change of venue from Dewan Sultan Iskandar to Dewan Kolej Perdana. They covered the whole hall with blue carpet and made arrangement on tables and chairs with their own man power. This year, I realized that there were many “multi-talented’ committees. During opening ceremony, William and Dennis played guitar while Kiho and Cynthia became singer (Cynthia was so enjoyed in singing and you can realize it from her face expression, haha). I was almost fall in love with them !! XD Gimmicks and opening video were so great, I was impressed , thumb up for them Opening Ceremony successfully held even though only one PR officer, Jewel (sorry to pronounce wrongly) in charge in preparing opening ceremony. Of course , it won’t be a success without teamwork. Same thing goes to preparation of public speaking hall and participants’ food and drinks. So blissful to be a participant, we just enjoyed and waited to be pampered XD ~

One of the biggest differences was that committees had “Secret Chamber” as resting site (the site that covered with partition board and mahjong paper inside hall). How much I missed the time in 2009 and 2010 when we were resting in the “Secret Chamber” and read the evaluation form from participant and sharing each other the funny comments we get and we could even had a short nap inside the chamber~ As a participant, sometimes I asked myself: Am I tired ? I may felt tired for only six days but the committees had strived their very best for almost a year to bring PELTAC 2012 to reality. Even though participant finished section as late as 11pm, or 12pm, the committees had their meeting lasted until at least 3 or 4am, and then some of them woke up as early as 6++am to prepare food and everything. (Come on! Give them a round of applause !!! and saying You are the BEST among the BEST! ). They had shown their professionalism by hiding well their tiredness. Some matters may arise during camp. That was really a great lesson as we learnt from mistakes. Communication and collaboration between committees were so important that they were the lubricant for every activities and event. I guessed at the beginning of the camp, not all the committees were fully understand the role played by them according to task schedule, but they were getting better afterwards being guided by Supreme Council. SCs had done a great job in guiding the OCs and OCs dedicated to their tasks.

Listen !! For those exPELTACers who were still studying in UTM , I would proudly say that PELTAC committees in 2012 did excellent job, indeed this is one of the best, excellent and fantastic camp ever , I was proud of them and ………………:P (le~lel`eh~ leh leh ~leh~)….toooooo bad u all missed it ! Leaving me the only one exPELTACer joining this camp !!! SOME “PUT AERO” !!Haha, Give my gratitude to exPELTACers like Davidson, Pui Yee, Ting Yi, Joseph and Michelle who paid a visit during the camp and truly speaking, I felt touched to see you all again. Come on PELTAC guys and girls, let make it our turn to pay them a visit next year.:)

“PELTAC ….this is the best camp ever…’when hearing participants’ compliments, I was sitting on the stage during sharing session in 2009 and 2010 but this year I was the one that saying it loudly with LOUD SPEAKER in my heart , “THIS IS THE BEST CAMP EVER!’’. Let the spirit of PELTAC to be continued from year to year ~~~ READY ?!! 1!…2!……..3!….PEL~TAC SPIRIT !!!! GO! GO! PELTAC RANGERsss!!!!
